Podcast Episode

Beauty of Broken

About this Episode

Episode Summary

Brokenness is a part of life, but it doesn’t have to define our lives. Like gooey, unfinished brownies, God isn’t finished with us yet. Our undoneness can point us to our need for God and point others to their need for Him as well. In this episode of “God Hears Her,” Elisa Morgan shares her story of how God created beauty out of her broken childhood and family life.

Show Notes

  • “Life is messy; and we don’t come out of it without being wounded, damaged, and hurting others.”

  • “Hello. God gives babies to parents every time that haven’t been parents before.”

  • “Elisa, you don’t have to be perfect. Just minister from a place of vulnerability. Just be honest about what it’s like to be a young mother. Put your deficits in my hands, and I will make them your offering.”

  • “My children came to me wounded, and I’m sure I’ve wounded them as well.”

  • “Life is not a neat formulaic box where once you know Jesus everything gets wrapped up in a perfect bow.”

  • “If I stop following You, will Satan leave my family alone? No!”

  • “I realized that I’m such in denial of my sin that I can never be forgiven, which means I can never be truly loved.”

  • “Brokenness is nothing to be ashamed of. It’s nothing to hide. God’s people are broken people. We need to reveal that breakage so we can show how God heals us. He can use us far more after we’ve been broken . . . when we put that breakage in his hands . . . Our brokenness doesn’t disqualify us, but qualifies us.”

  • “Like gooey, unfinished brownies, God isn’t finished with us yet. Our undoneness can point us to our need for God and point others to their need for him as well . . . If God was done with us, we’d be dead.”

  • “God didn’t make us to be a perfect family. He made us to be His family. He made us to be a beautiful demonstration of His love and grace in the midst of our messiness and brokenness . . . We’re used despite our cracks.”
